In Bihar Assembly elections 2025, Jan Suraj has made Chanchal Singh the candidate from Raghopur seat of Vaishali district. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav is contesting elections from here. Earlier there was discussion that Prashant Kishor would contest elections from here and challenge Tejashwi.
Bihar Assembly polls: Prashant Kishore’s partyJan Suraj has made Chanchal Singh its candidate from Raghopur seat for Bihar Assembly elections. The announcement comes amid speculations that Prashant may contest from this high-profile seat.
Raghopur assembly seat in Vaishali district has been considered the stronghold of the Lalu family. Lalu Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi and his son Tejashwi Yadav have won elections from here. Lalu Yadav won this seat twice, Rabri Devi won it thrice and became the Chief Minister on both the occasions. Tejashwi Yadav has won this seat twice in 2015 and 2020.
Raghopur seat has always seen a tough electoral contest between RJD and main parties like BJP and JDU. The Grand Alliance has not yet announced its candidate from Raghopur seat.
Talks and discussions are going on between the constituent parties of the Grand Alliance to resolve the deadlock over seat sharing.
BJP released the first list of 71 candidates
The BJP on Tuesday released its first list of 71 candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections. Jan Suraj has already released two lists of its candidates. The last date for filing nominations for the first phase of assembly elections in Bihar is October 17. On October 11, Kishore visited Raghopur and met and interacted with the people there.
Earlier, when asked about his candidature from Raghopur, Kishor said, “If I have to contest from Raghopur, the people of Raghopur will have to stand with me. Whatever I have seen and understood, I will put it in the party meeting. In a day or two, we will know who is contesting.”

Let us tell you that assembly elections are being held in two phases in Bihar. Voting will be held on 6 and 11 November. The results will be declared on 14 November.
