Yogi government’s gift on Diwali: Relief to women with two free LPG cylinders under Ujjwala scheme. Diwali Yogi Government Ujjwala Yojana Free LPG Cylinder

Yogi government has given big relief on Diwali. Under the Ujjwala scheme, economically weaker families will get two free LPG cylinder refills. This step will give women relief from inflation and the benefit of clean energy.

Lucknow, 14 October. On the occasion of Diwali, Yogi government is going to bring smiles on the faces of crores of mothers and sisters of Uttar Pradesh. The state government has decided to provide two free LPG cylinder refills under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, giving relief to the economically weak and deprived families.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will launch the scheme on Wednesday at Lok Bhavan auditorium and hand over the gift of free cylinder refill to eligible women. This step reflects the government’s commitment to continuously work towards providing clean fuel and economic support to the poor, women and rural families.

1.86 crore families benefited from Ujjwala scheme

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was started in May 2016. Its objective was to free rural and deprived families from traditional fuels like wood, coal or cow dung cakes and provide them with clean energy like LPG. This scheme freed the kitchens of rural India from smoke and reduced its ill effects on the health of women and children. Uttar Pradesh has been a leader in the successful implementation of this scheme. Till now 1.86 crore families have been given Ujjwala connections.

Free gas refill will be available in two phases

The state government has decided to provide two free LPG refills per year to Ujjwala beneficiaries. This distribution will be made in two phases in the financial year 2025-26:

  • First phase: October 2025 to December 2025
  • Second phase: January 2026 to March 2026

The government has made a provision of ₹1500 crore for the successful operation of this scheme.

Aadhar certified beneficiaries will get priority

In the first phase of the scheme, priority is being given to Aadhar certified beneficiaries. At present, Aadhaar verification of 1.23 crore Ujjwala beneficiaries has been completed in the state. Distribution is being ensured through all three oil companies – Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum. On the demand of state level coordinators, an advance amount of ₹346.34 crore has been provided to the oil companies so that there is no delay in distribution.

This is how you will get free LPG refill

The beneficiaries will first purchase cylinder refill at the prevailing rate including subsidy from their level. After this, within 3 to 4 days the subsidy amount will be deposited back by the oil companies in their Aadhaar linked bank account. This amount will be sent to the accounts of different beneficiaries by both the central and state governments. Those who have 5 kg cylinders can also get 14.2 kg cylinders if they wish. If someone has only one LPG connection, he will also get the benefit of this scheme.

Special campaign for Aadhaar authentication

The beneficiaries whose Aadhaar authentication has not been done yet are being verified rapidly with the cooperation of the administration and oil companies. Companies are sending SMS to the beneficiaries so that they can get their Aadhaar verified quickly. A special app is being developed for this and additional laptops are being deployed with the distributors. Promotion is also being done through banners, flexi and camps at each distributor’s centre. For convenience, roster based authentication system has been implemented.

Grievance redressal and strict monitoring system

Committees have been formed at two levels for effective operation and monitoring of the scheme. A committee constituted in the Food Commissioner’s office at the state level will regularly review the scheme. At the district level, the committee will organize weekly review meetings under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate. Along with this, a grievance redressal system has also been activated to resolve the problems of the consumers.

Instructions to ensure full quantity of gas

Clear instructions have been given to ensure that consumers get gas in full quantity (14.2 kg). If any cylinder is found underweight, the distributor will replace the cylinder at his own expense. The Weights and Measures Department and the District Administration have been ordered to investigate from time to time so that transparency is maintained.

Relief to women from inflation and expansion of clean energy

Amidst the increase in the prices of petroleum products globally, this decision of the Yogi government is a step to provide relief to poor families from inflation. This will promote the use of clean fuel in rural areas and have a positive impact on the environment. This scheme will not only provide economic relief to women, but will also bring convenience, health and empowerment in their lives.
