Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav directed that Govardhan festival should be celebrated with cultural traditions on 21st October. The main event will be held in Bhopal, cattle herders will be honored and community programs will be held in all the districts.

Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed that Govardhan festival should be celebrated with full enthusiasm in Madhya Pradesh on 21st October according to folk rituals and cultural traditions. He said that cowsheds, cattle rearers and rural communities should be specially included in this event.

The Chief Minister said this during the meeting held in the Ministry regarding the preparations for organizing Govardhan festival. Senior officials including Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain were present in the meeting.

Animal farmers and dairy entrepreneurs will be honored

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that on the occasion of Govardhan festival, such cattle rearers, milk producers and entrepreneurs who are making special achievements or innovations in the field of animal husbandry and milk production will be honoured. This will provide new direction and inspiration to rural youth and animal herders.

Community events will be held in the state’s cowsheds

It was told in the meeting that community events of Govardhan festival will be organized in all the cow shelters of Madhya Pradesh. Cultural and religious participation of the rural community will be ensured in these events.

Main event will be held in Bhopal – Govardhan Puja and Annakoot Bhog in Rabindra Bhawan.

The main state level event of Govardhan festival will be organized at Rabindra Bhawan in Bhopal. Govardhan Puja, Parikrama and Annakoot Bhog will be the main attractions in the program. On this occasion, traditional art of pastoral communities, Baredi and Thatya dance will also be presented.

Stalls of organic products, dairy products and cow dung based crafts

Stalls of organic products, milk products and cow dung based handicrafts will be set up at the venue. A glimpse of rural innovation and self-reliance will be seen in these stalls. Along with this, there will also be special counters for information about the schemes of Animal Husbandry, Agriculture and Cooperation Department.

Special focus on rural livelihood and Vrindavan Gram Yojana

During the programme, various activities will be carried out to strengthen rural livelihoods, increase milk production and expansion of Vrindavan Gram Yojana. The Chief Minister said that these initiatives will give new strength to the rural economy.

Events will be held in all districts and Anganwadi centers

Along with the main event, activities related to Govardhan festival will be organized in all the districts of the state. Panchgavya products — such as ghee, milk, cheese and curd products — will be distributed at Anganwadi centers to encourage the traditions at the local level.
