What is this disease and why?
According to the National Library of Medicine,The cause of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is not completely clear, but research suggests that it sometimes begins after a viral infection (eg covid‑19, dengue etc.) or deep injury and stress. Even after infections like Zika, H1N1, people can get caught by CFS. Some chronic diseases such as fibromyalgia (frequent and persistent pain throughout the body), autoimmune problems and migraine people are more at risk. In women, this disease is found more than men. Because of their immune system response and hormonal revenge.
Identify these 3 main symptoms:
- Fatigue – Fatigue which does not reduce even if you are relaxed. This tiredness is so high that it becomes difficult to do everyday work.
- Post-exertial Malaise (PEM) after a little work or mental effort, tiredness and symptoms become more heavy and it persists for the next 24 hours. This is the most obvious identity of CFS.
- Sleep Disorders – Sleep deteriorating and not getting relief from sleep. Patients complete sleep, but get tired in the morning. This kind of insomnia or deep sleep is also common. Sleep disorders have been found in many CFS patients, such as sleep apnea, hellpsi or sleep movements.
Apart from this, other complaints can occur such as muscle and joint pain, headache, sore throat, lighter throat glands, light dizziness, heartbeat, fasting, focus (Brain Fog), confusion.
Is treatment possible? How can you stay better?
1- Pacing/Energy Management- Learn to manage your routine activities carefully. Relax immediately when tired. Divide the work into small parts. This can prevent PEM and avoid spreading tiredness.

If sleep does not improve, then the medicine should go with the advice of a doctor.
3- Finding-behavior therapy- CFS patients are advised by counseling or cognitive behavioral therapy to change their thoughts and maintain mental balance. It does not cure the disease directly, but it is easy to handle the symptoms for the patient with mental support.
4- Pain and sleep related medicines- Light pen killer in headache, muscle pain or deep tiredness, Low‑dose antidepressants can help in case of sleep. But the advice of a doctor is necessary.
5- Nutrition and hydration- Take a balanced diet. In which protein, vitamins and water are found in sufficient quantity. If there is difficulty in eating, consult a dietist. But do not take any special diet plan without consulting.
