Mumbai: Popular rapper Badshah and acclaimed singer Shreya Ghoshal have collaborated on a new romantic track titled ‘Mahiya,’ featuring actress Avneet Kaur.
Badshah describes the collaboration as a meeting of two distinct musical worlds, coming together to narrate a universal love story.
Badshah, known for his urban beats, shared his excitement, stating, “Everyone knows Shreyaji as the queen of romance, and our camaraderie on the Indian Idol set has always been incredible. But taking that energy into the studio for this track was an entirely different experience.” He added that ‘Mahiya’ is a song that resonates long after the first listen, balancing longing, love, and celebration.
The single, composed and penned by Badshah himself, presents a refreshing romantic side of the rapper, with Hiten handling the music production. Shreya Ghoshal also expressed her delight, noting, “We’ve shared so many amazing moments while judging together, but collaborating on an actual song was long overdue. Badshah has brought a completely refreshing perspective to ‘Mahiya’.”
Avneet Kaur, who features in the song, described it as a dream come true, having admired both artists’ music for years. The music video, directed by choreographer duo Piyush-Shazia, boasts futuristic aesthetics and celestial backdrops, promising a visually stunning experience for viewers.
