Dhanteras holds a special place in actor Aadesh Chaudhary’s heart, as the festival reminds him of family traditions, prosperity and the value of hard work.
The actor, who is currently seen in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, believes that festive purchases are not always about their monetary value but also about the emotions and memories attached to them.
Recalling his most meaningful Dhanteras purchase, Aadesh says, “The most meaningful thing I have ever purchased on Dhanteras was the first gold coin I bought with my own hard-earned money early in my acting career. Growing up, I would watch my parents carefully choose something auspicious for the house, no matter how small it was. Being able to continue that tradition with my own earnings felt like a huge milestone. It was not about the size or price of the coin but what it represented. For me, it was a symbol of independence, hard work and my family’s blessings.”
Talking about his dream luxury purchase, the actor reveals that he would love to own a rare, bespoke luxury watch from an iconic heritage brand. “If money and practicality were not a consideration, I would love to invest in a rare, bespoke luxury watch. To me, a fine timepiece represents much more than luxury. It symbolises the value of time, patience and the milestones one achieves through a challenging journey. I would love to have something custom-made and personalised that could eventually be passed down as a family heirloom,” he shares.
When it comes to festive shopping, Aadesh prefers the charm of traditional markets over the convenience of online platforms. “I am a complete traditionalist when it comes to festive shopping. I absolutely prefer the energy of bustling markets during Dhanteras over online shopping. Walking through beautifully lit markets, smelling marigold flowers and seeing families shopping together instantly connects you with the spirit of the festival. I usually look for traditional silver coins, clay diyas and authentic brass utensils for the home puja,” he says.
Interestingly, if he could gift something auspicious to his on-screen character, the actor would choose a token that brings positivity into his life. “I would gift my character a protective evil eye charm or something that symbolises clarity. Characters in daily soaps go through so many intense emotional situations, misunderstandings and dramatic twists. A little token of good luck to keep negativity away and bring some smooth sailing into his life would be the perfect Dhanteras gift,” Aadesh adds.
For the actor, the ongoing festive celebrations on the sets of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai have also become particularly memorable. “My most memorable festive celebration on a set is happening right now. Returning to the daily soap format and shooting these grand festive sequences feels incredibly special. The entire set is beautifully decorated, everyone is dressed in their finest ethnic wear, and the energy during breaks is wonderful. Sharing sweets in the makeup rooms, making festive reels together and enjoying these moments with my co-stars make the long working hours fly by. It genuinely feels like celebrating with a second family,” he concludes.
