Madhuri Dixit Recalls 90s Trolling, Contrasts with Today’s Social Media

Mumbai, Nov 4: Bollywood icon Madhuri Dixit recently opened up about the evolution of criticism, drawing a stark comparison between the trolling she faced in the 1990s and the pervasive nature of social media negativity today.

During a recent episode of the popular quiz show ‘Kon Honar Crorepati’, where she was joined by Shiv Thakare and Gautami Patil, Madhuri shared her experiences. Shiv Thakare asked the veteran actress how she managed to stay grounded despite immense fame and deal with negative comments.

Responding to the query, Madhuri explained that her deep passion for her craft helped her remain focused and largely unaffected by criticism. She recalled how magazines in the 90s would often comment on actors, a form of scrutiny she differentiated from the relentless, repetitive trolling prevalent on digital platforms now.

“I love my work very much, and I really enjoy what I do. Because of that, I never paid attention to trolls,” Madhuri stated, adding, “Back then, there were some magazines that would comment about you or something like that. But it wasn’t like today, where there is so much trolling and people keep saying the same thing again and again. We should love whatever we are doing, and our intentions should be good. That’s it. Then nothing else matters that much.”

Madhuri Dixit, who debuted with ‘Abodh’ in 1984, rose to superstardom with acclaimed films like ‘Tezaab’, ‘Dil’, ‘Saajan’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!’, and ‘Devdas’. Her career, spanning five decades, is celebrated for her exceptional acting and dancing prowess.
