INDIA bloc leaders meet at Kharge’s office to plan strategy for Parliament session; Trump’s tariffs in focus

New Delhi: Floor leaders of INDIA opposition bloc met on Thursday to chalk out their strategy in cornering the Central government on key issues, primarily the US’ tariff announcement. The Opposition parties are expected to mount their attack on the Modi government in Parliament today over the 25 per cent tariff imposed on India by the US.

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced a 25 per cent tariff on US imports from India plus a penalty on India’s oil and defence purchases from Russia. In addition, sanctions on at least six Indian companies were imposed for engaging with Iran.

The meeting was convened by the Congress at the office of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge at 10 am. During the meeting, the floor leaders of INDIA bloc will decide on the issues that they will rake up in Parliament during the Monsoon session, to attack the government.

The Opposition parties are expected to shift their focus from the Pahalgam terror attack to the US’ tariff announcement during the Monsoon session. The Opposition has also planned a protest at Makkar Dwar of the Parliament at 10.30 am.
