New Delhi: In a major development in 2015 Noida murder case, a CBI court in New Delhi has sentenced two accused, Shashank Jadaun and Manoj Kumar, to life imprisonment. The murder had taken place in Sector-76 of Noida.
The victim Ankit Chauhan worked as software engineer when he was murdered.
Along with a jail term, the court has imposed a fine of Rs 70,000 on Shashank Jadaun and Rs 50,000 on Manoj Kumar.
The case dates back to April 13, 2015, when the software engineer, who worked with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), was shot dead inside his Fortuner car. The assailants were unidentified at the time.
After an appeal by the victim’s family, the case was handed over to the CBI by the Allahabad High Court.
The registered the case on June 14, 2016. During the course of investigation, the agency was able to uncover the conspiracy behind the murder of the techie. The CBI later arrested Shashank Jadaun on June 1, 2017, and Manoj Kumar on June 2, 2017.
On August 29, 2017, the CBI filed a chargesheet against the two under sections related to murder, attempt to robbery, criminal conspiracy, and destruction of evidence. Later, on August 2, 2019, the Supreme Court transferred the trial from Ghaziabad to Delhi.
After dozens of hearings over several years, the court found both the accused guilty on September 20, 2025, and sentenced them to life imprisonment on October 13.
Nearly a decade after the crime, the verdict has finally brought a sense of relief and justice to the techie’s family.
