Jack Lowden Calls James Bond Rumours ‘Flattering’, Stays Mum on Casting

Actor Jack Lowden has addressed the swirling speculation about him possibly becoming the next James Bond. The ‘Slow Horses’ star, 36, stated that the attention is “all very flattering” but firmly refused to fuel the ongoing discussions about the highly sought-after 007 role.

Lowden, whose name has been prominent among potential successors to Daniel Craig, acknowledged that being considered for such an iconic part was pleasing. “It’s nice to be mentioned, for any role, and I’m just not really going to add to the noise,” he remarked. This comes after his ‘Slow Horses’ co-star Gary Oldman, 68, hinted in September that the casting decision had already been made, with an announcement pending. Oldman had publicly backed Lowden, saying, “My fingers are crossed for Jack.”

Responding to Oldman’s support, Lowden expressed appreciation but downplayed its significance, stating, “It’s very nice, and Gary’s a sweetheart… But I don’t really listen to it.” Reports in October suggested Lowden and Callum Turner were among the finalists undergoing screen tests for the role.

Amazon MGM Studios, which now controls the franchise, began the search for the next Bond in May and is developing the upcoming film, slated for a 2028 release. Denis Villeneuve is attached to direct, with Steven Knight writing the screenplay. The studio has remained tight-lipped, saying, “we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right.”
