Wearing new shoes sometimes causes the problem of blisters on the feet, the pain of which becomes unbearable for some people. You should know that these blisters often occur when the skin is exposed to rubbing, sunlight and dust.
1- Know the blisters – You should know that blisters often develop when the skin is exposed to friction, sunlight, soil and dust. Such factors are present when you are hiking, gymnastics or skating, especially with improper shoes or socks. These develop due to wearing new shoes for too long continuously, so the shoes become hard and painful. Compared to your soft supple skin, it has no match.
2- Follow these measures to avoid ulcers and prevent them from growing –
If possible, practice walking in your new shoes before trying them on so that the shoes have a chance to adjust to the size of your feet, and your feet have a chance to adjust to being worn out the wrong way.
Remove hiking boots or uncomfortable shoes that cause hot spots on the feet, which soon turn into blisters.
Try to relax your feet and dry them thoroughly.
If you’re usually on the move, cover the area, which could later become a blister, with moleskin or zinc oxide tape or a bandage—or anything else that will reduce heat and friction.
3- Treatment of blister on foot:-
Clean the area around the blister with warm water and soap. Consider adding anti-bacterial coating.
To burst the blister or not to burst it. You have to decide whether you want to let the blister heal on its own or drain it. Generally, if the blister is not causing pain in walking, it should be allowed to heal on its own.
If you feel that the blister cannot be healed, then it is better to drain it. First, disinfect the needle in hot water or alcohol, or use a pre-sterilized hypodermic medical needle.
Burst the bubble. Carefully insert the needle into the bottom and side of the blister. Let the water come out.
Do not remove the skin covering the blister, this may cause infection.
Disinfect the blistered area. Apply a little povidone-iodine antiseptic on the blister area. This will cause some irritation, especially if a cold spray is applied, but this will ensure that the area will not become infected now that it has been exposed.
Cover the blistered area. Use a thin thread bandage, plaster, moleskin or other protection. Try to use less adhesive or no adhesive bandage wherever possible, this will make it easier to change the bandage without disturbing the inner skin.
Let the blister heal. Remove any bandages, making sure to leave the injured area as exposed as possible.
Do not put pressure on the injury. If you want to do the same thing that caused the blister, first apply a small amount of iodine antiseptic, cover the area with a non-stick dressing, and tape it with a strong tape, such as zinc oxide. Doing this will prevent infection, and will protect the area from rubbing again in the future.
Don’t use duct tape! Duct tape is not meant for use on human skin and doing so may re-inflamm the blister or have a negative impact on the surrounding area. Imagine that the blistered skin is held tightly and is being peeled off with pliers. That’s what duct tape will do to your skin.
Maintain cleanliness. Check the blister daily and always keep it clean, apply iodine antiseptic on it when necessary.
Advice :-
Try not to remove the skin covering the blister. It naturally protects the regenerated skin underneath. If you want to remove the unclean skin, remove it with sterilized scissors or a medical scalpel. Do not pull on unclean skin (doing so will cause severe pain).
Aloe Vera is also an effective remedy to cure blisters. Rub some aloe vera on the blister area and it will heal in a few days or a week.
Purchasing a blister plaster and applying it to the blister is another treatment. It is therapeutic and dries quickly, so you won’t need to do anything else, but these plasters sometimes don’t last well and can break or separate, causing skin damage if rubbed.
Do not use the method of inserting the thread through the blister. It is not used or taught these days because it is not effective and can spread infection quickly.
Don’t use anything dirty. When you do, it will spread more infection.
Don’t play tricks for a while, it will still hurt as it heals, so if you want to play, make sure the blister is completely healed. If the blister is not painful but there is still a wound, then thinking about playing is not a good option. You may get injured or develop another blister.
alert :-
Do not use a match to sterilize the instrument being used to puncture the blister – the fire oxidizes the metal layer, leaving behind black, sooty particles that can lead to infection.
Keep your wounds clean. Wash it with Dettol or any disinfectant mixture meant for personal use.
If a foot blister is filled with blood, the injury is very serious and may affect some of the capillaries. One has to be very careful while draining such drains, because in such cases infection can spread in the tissues.
If there is a lot of pus coming out of the blister, it smells bad, or it turns red, the blister is probably infected. you should go to the doctor.
