When he removed the soil with his hands, he saw that the small babies of Sehi (thorny rat) had died due to the injury of his hoe. Seeing this, she felt very sad and returned home without taking the soil. Later, when Sehi saw his children dead, he cursed that ‘the one who has killed my children will also have to bear the loss of his children.
Within a year of this incident, all seven sons of that woman went away and did not return for a long time. People started saying that all seven had become victims of some accident. The villagers considered all the sons of that woman dead. The woman felt very sad to hear this.
Saddened by the loss of her sons, when the woman was about to commit suicide by jumping into the river, she met an old woman on the way. When the old woman asked the reason for the woman’s sadness, she told the truth about the killing of Sehi’s children and her own children.
Then the woman said, ‘You make a picture of Sehi on the wall and worship Ahoi Mata. By doing this your lost sons will return to you. Ahoi Mata is the incarnation of Goddess Parvati herself. The woman worshiped Ahoi Mata with proper rituals on Kartik Krishna Ashtami.
Seeing the woman’s devotion, Ahoi Mata herself appeared and blessed the woman’s sons with a long life. As a result of this boon, all seven sons of that woman returned safely. Since then Ahoi Mata is being worshiped on Kartik Krishna Ashtami Tithi.
