On this day, 56 Bhog or Annakoot should be prepared. Then it should be offered to Lord Shri Krishna and Govardhan Maharaj. Kadhi-rice, millet, and butter-mishri must be included in this. Cow should be worshiped on this day. Also the cow should be fed green fodder. The drawn shape of Govardhan Mountain should be revolved seven times. If possible, one should circumambulate Govardhan Mountain. Mantras should be chanted while parikrama. One should visit the temple of Lord Krishna. Satvik food should be eaten on this day.

Tulsi leaves should not be plucked on the day of Govardhan Puja and the new moon day preceding it. No tree or plant should be cut on this day. Tamasic food should not be cooked at home on the day of Govardhan Puja. One should not eat meat, mandira and other tamasic food on this day.
