There has been a controversy after the video of a girl’s dance reel in Patna’s new metro went viral. People are calling it indiscipline and demanding action. There is a rule of ₹ 200 fine or legal action for disturbance in the metro.
Patna: Not even four days have passed since the new metro of Patna, the capital of Bihar, started functioning and the drama has started here. First some people spread filth by spitting gutkha, and now a viral dance video has broken all records. A video is circulating on social media, in which a girl is dancing enthusiastically to a film song inside the metro and is making her own reel. Seeing this, the public has become crazy.
reaction on social media
Public opinion regarding this video is divided into two camps. On one hand, some social media users are calling it ‘entertaining’ and ‘trendy’, while on the other hand, a large number of people are expressing their deep displeasure over cleanliness and indiscipline. Most people say that metro is a train, not a wedding hall or dance floor! This is public transport, here one has to travel, there is no drama. Many people have demanded imposition of fine and strict punishment. One user wrote, “This disease of reel making is now spoiling the civilized environment of Patna like Delhi-Mumbai!”
Some others also commented like, “Free mujra with yatra!” , “Wow! Now you will get to watch dance for free with your ticket!” And “This is the condition of the four-day-old metro, while people have waited for it for years.”
What will the administration do?
When the Gutkha spitting incident took place, the metro staff had launched a massive cleanliness drive. Now this new problem of dance and reelbaazi has troubled him again. People say that if such activities are not stopped, the environment of the metro will be completely spoiled. Now it remains to be seen what strict steps the Patna Metro administration takes to stop this ‘reel revolution’. Everyone feels that now a bigger fine is going to be imposed.
What can be the punishment for ‘reelbaazi’ in metro?
There can be two types of action for dancing or making videos inside the metro. First fine and second legal action.
1. Fine : The metro administration often directly imposes fine on people making ‘reels’. But usually, ‘making a reel’ or ‘doing a dance’ is not written directly into any rules. So to take action the metro administration resorts to the rules of “creating nuisance” or “causing inconvenience to passengers”. This fine starts from ₹200 and can go much higher depending on the metro rules. It depends on the mood of the metro officials and the seriousness of the violation.
2. Legal action and jail: If someone creates too much of a ruckus, scares passengers or causes damage to Metro property, the matter can become serious. In such a situation, the metro administration can call the police and file legal action (FIR) against that person. On such serious indiscipline, the person may face heavy fine or even short term jail under the Metro Railway Act.
To put it in simple language, if you are making a small video silently, then maybe the metro people will give you a warning and let you go. But if you’re dancing too loudly, getting in the way of others, or creating drama for the sake of the video. So it may happen and the matter may even reach the police.
