Team India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Richa Ghosh played a brilliant inning of 68 runs on 36 balls in the warm-up match of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 against England at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Wednesday, June 10. However, India lost the match by five runs.
When India were struggling at 63/4 chasing a target of 172, Ghosh came in to bat at number 6. As soon as he came, he adopted an aggressive approach and handled the middle order by hitting 9 fours and 2 sixes. However, after the dismissal of Richa Ghosh, the Women in Blue remained 6 runs short of the target.
Even though this wicketkeeper-batsman from West Bengal performed brilliantly, questions are being raised on her number 6 batting spot. Often by the time Richa comes to the crease, the required run rate has increased considerably, which increases the pressure on her. In the last warm-up match against West Indies, she also came at number 6, but got out for a golden duck after playing just one ball.
