Hariyali Amavasya Solar Eclipse 2026: Solar and lunar eclipse is an important event. Solar and lunar eclipses are very special for people associated with astronomy. According to astronomy, when the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun and due to this the Sun’s light cannot reach the Earth, then the Sun is eclipsed. Solar eclipse always occurs on Amavasya Tithi. The first solar eclipse of the year occurred on the new moon day of Phalgun month. Now once again a solar eclipse is going to happen. Due to which the affected areas will become dark during the day.

This will be the second or rather the last solar eclipse of the year 2026. This eclipse of the Sun will occur on the new moon day of the month of Saavan (which is called Hariyali Amavasya) on 12th August. According to mythological beliefs, when the malefic planets Rahu and Ketu try to swallow the Sun, a solar eclipse occurs. The last solar eclipse of the year 2026 will last for 7 hours, hence the effect of Rahu-Ketu on the Sun will last for more than 7 hours.

Time of last solar eclipse 2026

The last solar eclipse of the year will start at 09.04 pm on August 12. The end or salvation of this solar eclipse will happen on Thursday, August 13 at 04:25 in the morning.

This solar eclipse will occur in Chaturgrahi Yoga

The last solar eclipse of this year will take place in Cancer and Ashlesha Nakshatra. When the Sun is eclipsed, the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Jupiter will be present together in Cancer. Because of this, this solar eclipse will take place in Chaturgrahi Yoga. In Cancer, Sun and Moon will be at equal degrees along with Jupiter and Mercury.

Solar eclipse will be visible in these countries but not in India

Since, at the time when the Sun will be eclipsed, it will be night time in India. In such a situation, this last solar eclipse of the year will not be visible in India. This solar eclipse can be seen in many countries of Europe, the Atlantic Ocean and some parts of Russia.

Will Sutak period be valid or not?

In Hindu religion the event of eclipse is considered inauspicious. Sutak is applied before the eclipse begins. According to the scriptures, when the Sutak period of the solar eclipse starts 12 hours before. The time of Sutak period is not considered good. No auspicious work of any kind is done in Sutak. The doors of temples also remain closed. Sutak period continues till the end of the eclipse, but Sutak period starts only when the eclipse is visible. Since this solar eclipse will not be visible in India, its Sutak period will also not be valid.
