On other days, Lord Vishnu is also worshiped along with Goddess Lakshmi. Lakshmi is not worshiped without Lord Ganesha on Diwali. Let us know the reason for this-
Lord Vishnu broke the ego of Goddess Lakshmi
According to mythology, once Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi were discussing in Vaikuntha. The Goddess said, “I bestow wealth, prosperity, good fortune and opulence. By my grace the devotees attain all kinds of happiness. Therefore it is best to worship me.”
There was arrogance in Goddess Lakshmi’s words, which Vishnu understood and decided to break her arrogance. Then the Lord said, “O Goddess! You are the best, but you still lack complete womanhood. Because unless a woman enjoys motherhood, her womanhood is considered incomplete.”
Hearing such words of Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi became sad and narrated the whole story to Goddess Parvati. Then Goddess Parvati handed over her son Ganesha to Goddess Lakshmi as an adopted son, which made Goddess Lakshmi extremely happy. Goddess Lakshmi said that any devotee can achieve wealth, prosperity, success and well-being only when Lakshmi and Ganesha are worshiped together. Since then, Lord Ganesha is worshiped on Diwali along with Goddess Lakshmi as his adopted son.
This is why Lakshmi and Ganesha are worshiped together
In the scriptures, Goddess Lakshmi has been described as the goddess of wealth and prosperity. Lord Ganesha is called the god of intelligence and prudence. By the grace of Goddess Lakshmi, devotees get the happiness of wealth and prosperity, but without intelligence and prudence, they cannot achieve it. Therefore, Lakshmi and Ganesha are worshiped together on Diwali so that people attain wealth and use their intelligence to accumulate wealth without losing their sanity in the glare of worldly pleasures.
