What did Kalyan Banerjee say on Abhishek?

Kalyan Banerjee said, “I am still with Didi, but will not tolerate Abhishek Banerjee’s arrogance. I have left all the cases related to Banerjee.” Although Banerjee has been criticizing the rebel MPs for the past few days, her recent warning to the TMC chief has fueled speculations of a split in the party.

‘If didi chooses Abhishek…’

Banerjee said, “Let Didi decide what she wants to do. As of now I am with her.” He further said, “If didi decides to go with Abhishek, I will take my decision.” Banerjee has joined those whose voices became louder after TMC’s crushing defeat at the hands of BJP last month. The discontent against Banerjee paved the way for the biggest rebellion in the Trinamool till date. Earlier this month, 58 Trinamool Congress MLAs sidelined Banerjee and appealed to Mamata to become their advisor. In Bengal, the rebel group comprising more than three-fourths of the party’s MLAs was led by expelled party leader Ritabrata Banerjee.

Discord increased in TMC

Now a similar scene is being seen in the Parliament too, where many MPs are leaving TMC. While at least 14 MLAs held a meeting in Delhi earlier this week, more have quit their Parliament membership, indicating a major split in the TMC. The newest names in this list are those of Sushmita Dev and Prakash Barik, who left their Rajya Sabha membership and fueled speculations about joining BJP. Earlier, Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Roy has also resigned from the party. At the same time, 19 Lok Sabha MPs have joined the rebel group, which includes many big names including Mamata’s close aide Sayani Ghosh, Yusuf Pathan.
