Laapataa Ladies Set New Record with 13 Wins at Filmfare Awards 2025
The 70th Filmfare Awards took place on Saturday at EKA Arena, Kankaria Lake in Ahmedabad. The event was hosted by superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who shared the stage with filmmakers Karan Johar and Maniesh Paul. Performances by Shah Rukh, Kriti Sanon, and Kajol kept the audience entertained.
The film Laapataa Ladies won the coveted Best Film trophy along with 12 other awards, equaling the highest number of wins at Filmfare, previously held by Gully Boy. This included major awards such as Best Director for Kiran Rao and Best Supporting Actor Male and Female for Ravi Kishan and Chhaya Kadam, respectively.

Alia Bhatt won Best Actress for her role in Jigra. Interestingly, the Best Actor in Leading Role Male award was shared by two actors: Abhishek Bachchan for I Want To Talk and Kartik Aaryan for Chandu Champion. Critics’ awards went to Rajkummar Rao (Best Actor Male for Srikanth) and Pratibha Rannta (Best Actress for Laapataa Ladies).
Other notable wins for Laapataa Ladies included Best Screenplay and Best Dialogue by Sneha Desai, Best Music Album and Background Score by Ram Sampath, Best Lyrics by Prashant Pandey, and Best Playback Singer Male, awarded to Arijit Singh. The prestigious Critics’ Award for Best Film was won by Shoojit Sircar’s I Want To Talk, which also earned Ritesh Shah and Tushar Sheetal Jain the Best Adapted Screenplay award.
Debut talents were also recognised, with Nitanshi Goel winning Best Debut Actress for Laapataa Ladies and Lakshya winning Best Debut Actor for Kill. The Best Debut Director award was shared by Kunal Kemmu (Madgaon Express) and Aditya Suhas Jambhale (Article 370).
Special honours included Lifetime Achievement Awards given to Zeenat Aman and the late Shyam Benegal. The RD Burman Award for upcoming music talent went to Achint Thakkar for his work in Jigra and Mr & Mrs Mahi.
