In his speech at the National Day ceremony, Taiwan President Lai Ching-te said that his country will accelerate the construction of a multi-layered air defense system to face enemy threats. He said that the pace of construction of T-Dome with high level detection and effective interception will be increased in Taiwan.
He said Taiwan is firmly committed to maintaining peace and warned China not to think about forcefully changing the status of the entire Taiwan region. He also said that Taiwan will spend three percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) next year and five percent by 2030 on its defense.
How will Taiwan’s T-Dome be?
The Taiwanese President did not provide any further details about T-Dome. Therefore, not much information has been received about its price and features. It is also not known yet when it will start working. However, most experts believe that it is being built on the lines of Israel’s Iron Dome.
A senior officer associated with the President said that we hope to create a more powerful air defense system, which has a higher interception rate. He also said that countries like America are also preparing a similar system. Let us tell you that US President Donald Trump had revealed the plan of Golden Dome Missile Defense System in May this year (May 2025). Under this plan of 175 billion US dollars, such a system is to be prepared which will shoot down the missiles in space itself.

Israel’s Iron Dome is a short range missile defense system designed to intercept short range rockets as well as shells and mortars. Its range is between four kilometers to 70 kilometers. It is considered to be the most important instrument of Israel’s defense system. This Iron Dome detects the incoming enemy rocket through radar and also calculates how much time it will take to reach the populated area. After this it launches missiles, so that the rocket coming from the front can be dropped on an empty place.
The capabilities of Iron Dome have been seen in Israel’s war with Hamas that started in October 2023. It has detected and destroyed thousands of rockets launched by terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah in the last two years.
America’s Golden Dome will be ready by 2028

If US President Donald Trump’s announcement is to be believed, the Golden Dome will be a missile defense system that America itself had never prepared before. The plan is to create a multi-layered missile defense system that can protect America from the threats of missiles targeting both land and space. For the first time, such a capability will be ensured so that space-based weapons like missiles etc. can be intercepted at various stages of their flight.
For this, the Golden Dome is being designed in such a way that it can work during the four major phases of the missile’s flight: pre-launch, boost phase, midcourse and terminal descent. The whole concept behind this is that any such threat can be destroyed during its flight itself. Trump has claimed that this system will start working before the end of his tenure. Trump’s term ends in January 2029. With this, it will provide stronger protection from missile attacks. It will even provide protection from advanced hypersonic systems developed by China and Russia.
Increasing threat from China on Taiwan
Actually, the President of Taiwan has not announced the construction of T-Dome just like that. The threat from China around this island is increasing. Military activities are being carried out by China around Taiwan. China claims that Taipei is its own territory. Even the Chinese President has said that Taiwan is actually an inalienable part of China. No power will be able to stop China’s unification with Taiwan.
However, Taiwan does not agree with this. Taipei says that the future of this country will be decided only by its 23 million residents. At the same time, it has repeatedly asked Beijing to respect the democratic wishes of these people.
