Difference Between Common Cold and Allergic Rhinitis: Do you sneeze again and again and you ignore it as just a cold? Attention It may be a sign of allergies. Repeated sneezing, nose, or eye irritation can all be symptoms of allergic rhinitis. Identification is necessary in time so that a big problem is not made. Let’s know what is the real reason behind this repeated sneezing and what is its right cure.
Dr. Manish Arya of ENT in Delhi It is said that repeated sneezing can be a symptom of allergic rhinitis, which can be a sign of disturbances of the body’s immune system. With the help of timely identification of allergies and immunotherapy, not only can you get relief from symptoms, but the future problems can also be avoided. It is not right to leave sneezing as a symptom of a cold.
When is allergic rhinitis- allergic rhinitis occurs when our immune system considers some basic elements harmful such as dust, smoke, fungus, animal hair or pollen particles. As soon as the person comes in contact with these allergen, the body immediately reacts. The result of this is frequent sneezing, running nose or closure, itching and water in the eyes, sore throat, fatigue and sleeplessness.
How allergic rhinitis is different from cold and cold
Doctor Manish Arya said that listening to its symptoms is like cold and cold, but the real difference is that allergy symptoms persist for a long time and can return again and again. The cold is caused by the virus and cures in a few days, while allergic rhinitis can remain for a long time. Many times people do not even know what they are allergic to. In such cases, skin pre -test (SPT) should be conducted.
What is skin test (SPT)
SPT is a simple and effective investigation in which small amounts of potential allergies are inserted into the person’s skin. If a person is allergic to that thing, then in 15 to 20 minutes, a mosquito bites are made at that place. This makes it easy to understand what is the cause of allergies. Nasal sprays and medicines are used to avoid allergies. But they only reduce symptoms. Do not eliminate allergies completely. Allergies are for a long time, so the most effective way to reduce it from the root is to get immunotherapy.
When to get immunotherapy to eliminate allergy
Immunotherapy is a type of treatment in which the body is gradually brought in contact with the allergen that causes the person allergies. This makes the body tolerant towards that allergen and reduces the intensity of allergies. This therapy is given in the form of shots or under-tung drops/tablets. It does not contain steroids or antihistamines, due to which its side effects are also very low.
According to Dr. Arya- Timely investigation and correct treatment is very important because allergies can take serious form if they do not get treatment. Many times it becomes the cause of asthma, frequent sinus complaints, sleep problems or ear problems in children. Therefore, if someone sneezes again and again, the nose flows or there is irritation in the eyes, then do not ignore it.
