Filmmaker Karan Johar recently marked the 10th anniversary of his romantic drama ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, reflecting on its deep personal significance.
Johar shared that the film, released on October 28, 2016, was inspired by his own experiences of love, longing, and heartbreak, making it a pivotal project in his career.
Taking to social media, Johar posted a video montage from the film featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He emphasized that ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ explores the complexities of one-sided love, suggesting it doesn’t require sympathy but rather a profound understanding of love’s power beyond reciprocation. He highlighted that loving someone can be a selfless and empowering act, forming the core idea behind the film’s narrative.
Johar acknowledged that while the film had its imperfections and received varied responses, particularly concerning its third act, he stands by his storytelling choices. He stated that artistic expression doesn’t always aim for perfection, and conviction often guides a storyteller’s vision.
