From ScreenShot scam to phishing, your money is being cheated in new ways, see here how to avoid it

UPI fraud

As the digital age is increasing in the country, the government is also working to deal with the challenges related to it. In today’s time, making payment through UPI has become a part of our life. To make this system easier, the Reserve Bank of India has launched some apps and systems, which will make the payment interface easier and you will also be able to make payments through smart watch and car. As technology is increasing, so are its dangers. At the same time, people are also being cheated through fake screenshots and phishing. Let us tell you through experts how the challenges of cyber fraud can be dealt with.

Since the advent of technology, people committing cyber crimes increasingly target senior citizens. On this we talked to Mukesh Pandey, Founder of Rupeepaisa.com and Kanishk Gaur, India Future Foundation. Experts say that to avoid online fraud, first of all if you get a call from an unknown number that your KYC has to be done or your bank account is being closed and if any link is sent to you then do not click on it.

If you have a card, then do not share its CVV and PIN number with anyone, secondly keep multifactor authentication enabled in your digital payments in which you do not have only OTP based and never give your phone in the hands of any unknown person. Because many times the OTP PIN is transferred from one account to another by using phone forwarding.

Turn off Bluetooth devices

Kanishk Gaur told that you should keep your phone’s devices like Bluetooth off in public places. He said that many times what happens is that by keeping the Bluetooth device on, people try to get the details of your phone by bringing a machine around your phone. So your phone’s Wi-Fi or Bluetooth has to be switched off in public places.

Fraud through fake screenshot

Nowadays, people are cheated by sending fake screenshots. On this the expert said that today it is easily available on the internet. There is no need to spend any money on this. First of all transfer one or ₹ 2 to the funder’s account. So that they can get their UPI ID. After that we ask him to verify the details with us. This much money has come to your account. When the money has arrived, they have the details that it has been transferred. It is worth this much. Now they manipulate it further by doing some big transaction and saying that money has been withdrawn from our account and you make the payment in return.

According to experts, in such a situation, if money has not been credited to your account and a screenshot is seen, then payment should not be made. Because in UPI it never happens that the payment has been made from the other side and even after a long time, the payment gets transferred immediately in UPI. If the payment is on hold or is stuck then you should never do further transactions on its basis.

Fraud through QR code

Along with this, incidents of fraud also come to light in the market through QR code. QR codes are changed, the QR code is placed by someone else and when you go there and check, you find out that it is not a QR code at all. QR codes are changed outside the shops and sometimes the numbers in their names are changed. To avoid all this, it is very important to physically verify that the QR code or number is the same. There is no one else to which you are transferring the payment.
