Trouble mounts for Mohsin Naqvi as India plans to sanction PCB chief from world cricket

New Delhi: The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman and Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi is under immense pressure as India is planning to sanction him from world cricket and also get him removed from the ICC board of members.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, which has quoted a report from news agency PTI, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has clearly stated that it will bring the matter of Naqvi’s behaviour to the attention of the ICC. This comes after Naqvi ran away with the silverware after India’s triumph over Pakistan in the Asia Cup final.

India plans to censure Naqvi

As ACC head, he is bent upon giving the trophy to India but they are not willing to take it. The report further mentions that the Indian cricket board has plans to get Naqvi censured and possibly removed as Director in the ICC. Earlier, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, had clearly stated that the Asia Cup title is not Naqvi’s personal property and that he should return it to India as soon as possible.

The trophy, according to multiple reports, has been placed at the ACC headquarters, but the PCB head has given strict instructions that it shouldn’t be moved or handed over without his approval.
