Babar, who laid the foundation of the Mughal Empire in India, was very fond of Kabul.
Accusing Afghanistan of terrorism, Pakistan has attacked its capital Kabul. Pakistan carried out an air strike in Taliban ruled Afghanistan on Thursday night. A few hours before this, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif had given a strict warning to Afghanistan. He said that enough is enough now. Islamabad will no longer tolerate terrorist bases operating in the country. After this, Pakistan rained missiles on Kabul, Afghanistan.
Pakistan, a Muslim country, attacked Kabul, the capital of Taliban-ruled Afghanistan, because it claims that Afghanistan actually carries out terrorist activities in Pakistan. This is the same Kabul, which also had a deep connection with the Mughals who ruled India. Even the first Mughal ruler is buried in Kabul. Let us try to know on this pretext what exactly was the connection of the Mughals with Kabul?
Mughal emperor Babar’s connection with Kabul
Zahiruddin Muhammad Babar established the Mughal Empire in India by defeating Ibrahim Lodi in the first battle of Panipat in the year 1526 AD. Babar had deep connections with Kabul. He was born on 14 February 1483 AD in Fargana. Fergana is a city in eastern Uzbekistan. Babur, the great grandson of Taimur Lang, believed that Genghis Khan was also the ancestor of his dynasty. Babar’s father Omar Sheikh Mirza was the ruler of Fargana. After his death Babar became the ruler of Fargana. However, due to family problems he was not able to rule Fargana for long.
In fact, Babar, the fifth descendant of Taimur Lang from his father’s side and the fourteenth descendant of Mongol Genghis Khan from his mother’s side, belonged to the Turkish Chagatai dynasty, who became the ruler of Farghana at the age of only 11 years. However, his uncles rebelled and deposed him from the throne of Farghana after just two-three years. After this, in the year 1501, he captured Samarkand, which remained with him only for eight months. Babar conquered Kabul in the year 1504 AD. After this, he gave up the title of Mirza of his ancestors and assumed the title of Padshah and started ruling Kabul.

Babur’s many campaigns against India
It was during his rule over Kabul that Babur campaigned against India for the first time in the year 1519, which was against the Yusufzai caste. During this campaign, Babar captured Bajaura and Bhera. It was during this campaign that Babur used artillery for the first time. In the year 1519, Babar once again turned to India and captured Sialkot and Sayyadpur along with Bajaura and Bhera.
In the year 1524 AD, he once again turned to India and it was probably then that Daulat Khan invited Babar to attack against Ibrahim Lodi. Only after this, Babar attacked Ibrahim Lodi in 1526 AD, defeated him in the field of Panipat and took control of India. Here he established the Mughal rule.
Had expressed desire to be buried in Kabul
Babar could not rule India for long. Babar, the first ruler of the Mughal dynasty, died in Agra on 26 December 1530 AD. After this he was buried in Firozabad. However, during his lifetime, Babar had expressed his wish that after his death he should be buried in Kabul. He ruled Kabul from 1504 to 1526. That’s why he was very fond of Kabul. Anyway, he considered India only as his conquered territory and saw his roots in Fargana and Kabul.

It did not flourish during Humayun’s first reign.
However, this wish of Babar could not be fulfilled immediately after his death, because at that time his son Humayun was only 22 years old and there was instability in the empire. Humayun had to compete with Afghan chieftain Shershah Suri in Bihar and Bahadurshah of Gujarat. In such circumstances, it was not easy to transport Babar’s body or his remains from Agra to Kabul. It was not easy to make security arrangements while traveling a long journey of hundreds of miles. Babar’s dead body also had to be taken with due respect, while Humayun had to concentrate on other issues. Meanwhile, in the year 1540, Sher Shah defeated Humayun and drove him out of India, so the wish of burying Babar in Kabul could not be fulfilled.
Buried in Kabul nine years after his death
However, after the death of Sher Shah Suri, Humayun once again took control of India and with this Kabul also came under his control. After this the process of burying Babar started in Kabul. Nine years after his death, Babar’s body was taken out of the grave and taken to Kabul and buried there. That is why it is said that Babar, born in Uzbekistan, died in India and was buried in Kabul.
