Bomb Threat Emails Target Amitabh Bachchan’s Home Jalsa, Diljit Dosanjh’s Concert; Mumbai Police Launch Probe

A wave of panic has swept across Mumbai today following the receipt of menacing emails threatening prominent personalities, including megastar Amitabh Bachchan and singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh, as well as multiple educational institutions and civic offices. Mumbai Police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the matter, stepping up vigilance across the city after the alarming messages, allegedly sent by an individual identifying as ‘Smith Johnson’, surfaced.

The threatening emails, received on Friday, October 23, 2026, cited specific targets and dates for alleged attacks, prompting immediate security checks at all mentioned locations.

Amitabh Bachchan, Diljit Dosanjh Get Threat Messages

The emails explicitly named veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic Juhu residence, ‘Jalsa’, as a target for a grenade attack on October 31. The threats also extended to Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh, specifically mentioning a “suicide attack” at his upcoming concert scheduled for November 27 at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Racecourse. This comes as Dosanjh is set to perform as part of his India tour. While Bachchan has yet to issue a statement, security around his bungalow has been visibly increased.

Beyond the celebrity targets, the disturbing messages also issued threats against Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde’s office at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters, with a claim of an explosion on October 23 at 3:11 PM. Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi was also reportedly mentioned in the email. Furthermore, the emails warned of attacks on schools, including a specific mention of a school in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) and Vibgyor High School in Airoli, Navi Mumbai, which was evacuated as a precaution after receiving a bomb threat.

Police Investigation Intensifies, Security Heightened

Following the alerts, Mumbai Police swiftly initiated a search for the sender and dispatched teams to conduct thorough checks at all threatened premises. Extensive inspections were carried out at the BMC office, the schools, and around Bachchan’s residence. Authorities confirmed that nothing suspicious was found during these inspections, alleviating immediate fears.

The emails reportedly contained pro-Khalistan slogans and attributed the threats to a group identifying itself as the “Khalistan National Army.” The message also referenced individuals allegedly associated with Khalistan-linked organisations.

Police are now meticulously examining the emails, attempting to trace their origin, verify their authenticity, and assess the credibility of the threats. As a precautionary measure, instructions have been issued to strengthen security and surveillance at the mayor’s office, Mahalaxmi Racecourse, and prominent educational institutions across the city. The public has been advised to remain calm while the investigation is underway.
