IND vs WI | Twitter in splits as teammates take mickey out of Gill after he wins first toss as captain

Fortunes of late have refused to enable India any further in their quest to cricketing glory, at least as far as tosses are concerned.
With the team already holding the record for the most consecutive tosses lost, Shubman Gill finally broke the curse in Delhi on Friday with his first win as skipper.India won the toss in the second Test against West Indies, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, and chose to bat first. This marked Shubman Gill’s first correct call in the coin flip since he took over the team a few months ago in England and ended up losing all five tosses during the tour. The loss in the first Test against West Indies as well means Gill ends joint second on captains with most consecutive toss losses to begin their reign alongside NEw Zealand’s Tom Latham, and his teammates made sure they did not let such feats go unnoticed.

After Gill was done with the ceremony hosted by Murali Kartik on Friday, the 25-year-old walked off towards his teammates doing their warm-ups. Bowling coach Morne Morkel was the first to shake hands with the skipper for finally breaking the streak but the likes of Axar Patel and Jasprit BUmrah did not seem so kind as they put arms around Gill and playfully tugged him around while laughing along. Even head coach Gautam Gambhir, who has earned a reputation for being stone faced, could not help but break into laughter amidst all their shenanigans and seemed to himselg take part in the ribbing as well.

Twitterati was thoroughly amused.
