Mehra’s house and properties were raided, and even the officials were shocked to see what they found. What started as a modest investigation has now turned into one of the most sensational corruption cases in Madhya Pradesh.

Did the government engineer create so much wealth with his own money?

The Lokayukta team first raided Mehra’s luxurious house in Manipuram Colony, Bhopal. Cash worth Rs 8.79 lakh, jewelery worth Rs 50 lakh and fixed deposits worth Rs 56 lakh were recovered from here. But the real shocking thing happened in his second house.

17 tons of honey and gold worth crores: the splendor of the farmhouse

In the farmhouse located in Saini village of Narmadapuram, the officials found that there were 17 tonnes of honey, six tractors, 32 under-construction cottages and seven completed cottages. Apart from this, there was also a private pond, cow shed and temple in the farmhouse. And the most surprising thing – luxury cars like Ford Endeavour, Skoda Slavia, Kia Sonet and Maruti Ciaz were also found here.

Gold and Silver: Treasures of the Opal Regency

Investigators found 2.6 kg gold, 5.5 kg silver and Rs 26 lakh in cash in Mehra’s Opal Regency apartment. Overall, in this action, about Rs 36 lakh in cash, gold and silver worth crores, insurance policies, share documents and four luxury cars were seized.

The Lokayukta team found that Mehra’s relatives were partners in the firm and several benami investments were also made. Forensic teams and digital file investigation are involved in this entire matter. The question now arises whether it was only greed and opulence or was there a big corruption network going on?

This action, which spread across Bhopal and Narmadapuram, also raised questions as to how government engineers can amass so much wealth by using their position. The matter is now under Lokayukta and police investigation and valuation of the properties is still underway.
