Karwa Chauth 2025

Karwa Chauth 2025 Post-Fast Rituals: The fast of Karva Chauth is on 10th October i.e. Friday. On this day, women observe Nirjala fast for the long life of their husbands. This fast falls on Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha in Kartik. Married women worship Lord Shiva, Mother Parvati and Kartikeya as well as Lord Ganesha. After worshiping in the evening, they offer Arghya to the Moon God as soon as the moon rises.

After offering Arghya to the Moon, married women drink water from their husband’s hands and break their fast. At the same time, women fasting for the first time face the problem that how should they start the next day of Karva Chauth? Actually, after waking up in the morning, after doing daily activities, one should take bath and thank Goddess Parvati and Chandradev. While giving thanks, one should say, “O Mother, you have made my fast successful, give happiness and prosperity to my family.” This has been a tradition of expressing gratitude.

According to beliefs, women observing fast on Karva Chauth should also do light worship in the morning on this day, which is considered auspicious. At the time of worship, light a lamp and chant “Om Namah Shivay” and “Om Parvatayi Namah”. The completion of this fast is considered a thanksgiving prayer.

Married women should feed food to poor women and girls on the next day of Karva Chauth. Along with this, clothes or saree should be donated. With this, the virtues of Karva Chauth increase manifold. Not only this, on the next day after completion of Karva Chauth fast, Prasad of sweets, halwa, kheer or coconut should be distributed among the family and neighbours. It is considered auspicious and is also a symbol of stability.

Keep in mind that the day of Karva Chauth is also called Karak Chaturthi. Karva or Karak is an earthen vessel from which Arghya is offered to the Moon. Karva is considered very important during puja. After the fast, it should be donated to a Brahmin or a worthy woman.
