Amid the announcement of a trimming of more than 12,000 employees in the country’s leading information technology (IT) service company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the expert believes that another IT company can also pruning in the coming time due to increase in artificial intelligence and auto mation.
The Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced a trip to a total number of 6.13 lakh employees, ie more than 12,000. This step is expected to have the most impact on medium and senior level employees.
This research firm made a big claim
TCS has described this trimming as part of the strategy of becoming an organization ready for future in which emphasis is being laid on technology, adoption of AI and restructuring of the workforce. Tarun Pathak, the research director of Counterpoint Research, says that this move of TCS is the result of comprehensive economic pressure, changing expectations of customers and more tight, result-based models of the industry.
He said that even though TCS has not described this trimming as AI inspired, it is happening at a time when the adoption of automation and AI is having a major impact on the workforce decisions in the entire technology tech industry.
Pathak said, Indian IT service companies are now moving towards more efficient and performing-centered workforce models. Faisal Kavusa, the chief analyst and founder of Techrch, said the enterprises are now expecting more work from IT service companies using AI.
Kavusa said, in such a situation, the cost of cost will force to trim. We should see it as a part of a major development in AI-run IT where AI agents will quickly replace human agent.
TCS takes decision to trim
Prabhu Ram, vice-president (industry research group) of Cybermedia Research, described TCS retrenchment as related to challenges such as margin pressure and changing priorities of customers. Ram said, “With the speed of adopting AI, customers are emphasizing more on cost-doubt and productivity benefits. TCS and other IT companies are using AI and automation to increase efficiency along with their current team.
Niti Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of Teamlies Digital, said that every company is now looking towards AI -led change. He said that companies are investing hugely in increasing the efficiency of their existing and new employees.
However, he said that employees who do not fit in the future structure of the company or not enhance their ability may have to go out. This decision of TCS has raised the concerns of IT sector employees and it is also seen as a widespread debate on social media.
Some users described the possibility of going to jobs due to AI and automation as a reality, while some people also feared to increase competition and decrease salary.
