Sanjay Kapoor Wealth Case: Karisma Kapoor’s children claim share in late businessman Sanjay Kapoor’s property worth ₹30,000 cr. During the hearing in DELHI HC, lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani described Priya Sachdev as ‘Cinderella’.
Sanjay Kapoor Wealth Case: Karisma Kapoor and the late businessman’s children have demanded their rights in late businessman Sanjay Kapoor’s inheritance of Rs 30,000 crore. The legal battle in the Delhi High Court took a new turn on Thursday (October 9) when senior lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Karisma Kapoor’s children, compared Sanjay’s widow Priya Sachdev to the evil stepmother like Cinderella from the fairy tale. Kapoor’s lawyer Jethmalani alleged that Priya Sachdev has bad intentions and is deliberately working to minimize the rights of Karisma’s children.
Priya Sachdev accused of grabbing property
“She is a Cinderella-like stepmother,” Jethmalani told the court. He claimed that Priya had already acquired 60 per cent of the property, 12 per cent for her son and 75 per cent of the trust. He further said that the management of the property has been done in a hurry, they had even started preparing benami forms to fix the share holders of the company.
Questions raised on validity of will
Jethmalani further alleged that the will was changed when Sanjay was on a holiday with his son. Jethmalani alleged that a beneficiary of this will became a director in one of Sanjay Kapoor’s companies a day after his funeral.
This property matter is related to a lawsuit filed by Karisma’s children, daughter Samaira and son Kiaan, in which they have demanded equal share in the property of their late father Sanjay Kapoor. At present, the hearing of this case has been extended to a later date. The case will now be heard again on October 16.
Sanjay Kapoor died suddenly on June 12, 2025 due to a heart attack. He is survived by his second wife Priya, his son Azaria, his mother Rani Kapoor. He has two children from his previous marriage with Karishma.
