Haryana CM Letter Complaint: Senior IPS officer of Haryana Police Y. Puran Kumar committed suicide by shooting himself at his home in Chandigarh on 7 October. Where was the IPS officer’s IAS wife after the incident?
Kumar’s wife and senior IAS officer Amneet P. Kumar, who was present in Japan at the time of the incident, wrote a letter to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. In this letter she told that despite the names of powerful policemen included in her husband’s suicide note, no FIR was registered. She wrote that the Chandigarh Police ignored her accounts of harassment, humiliation and mental torture even days after her husband’s death.

Is the administration part of a conspiracy of corruption and pressure?
Amneet alleged in the letter that some higher officials are influencing this matter and they may try to defame the family. He demanded immediate action from the Chief Minister, suspension of the responsible officers and safety of the family. This matter not only causes personal grief but also raises big questions on administrative transparency and accountability.
Casteism and mental harassment – were these the reasons for suicide?
According to the letter, Kumar mentioned in his suicide note that he had to endure caste-based discrimination and departmental harassment. His wife claims it was the result of constant mental stress and humiliation, which was ignored. He also raised this issue in another letter written to the SHO of Chandigarh.
Is the family also in danger in the name of security?
Amneet wrote in the letter that there is a serious threat to the safety of him and his family. They are receiving threats and fear that responsible officials may tamper with evidence or influence the investigation. He has demanded from the government the safety of the family and immediate action against the culprits.
