Saif Ali Khan on claims that knife attack on him was fake: Kind of world we live

Saif Ali Khan has finally opened up at his Pali Hill residence in Bandra, Mumbai – and the unexpected controversy that followed.

The actor, who was hospitalised for a week after sustaining stab wounds near his spine, had turned heads when he calmly walked out of the hospital in a white shirt and jeans, refusing any assistance. The composed exit soon sparked social media chatter questioning whether the incident had been exaggerated.

Appearing on the talk show ‘Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle’, Saif set the record straight about what really happened that day and why he chose to walk out on his own.

When Kajol asked how he managed to leave the hospital despite his injuries, Saif recalled, “When it was finished, there were some people there – a lot of advice on how to go. The media was curious, and nobody was listening to me. So I said, ‘If the media is curious, let’s settle it. I can walk, so I’ll just walk out.’ It was very bad, but it was okay. They stitched it up, I was there for a week. The back was painful but fine. The wheelchair was not required.”

Explaining his thought process further, the actor added, “Somebody said, ‘You should go in an ambulance,’ another said, ‘Use a wheelchair.’ But my instinct was – why create panic or worry for family, fans, or well-wishers? I just wanted to walk out to send a visual message that I’m okay.”

However, what was meant as reassurance soon spiralled into scepticism. After videos of his calm hospital exit surfaced, several social media users suggested the incident might have been staged. Responding to the online noise, Saif said, “That was the idea – to show I was fine – but there was so much feedback saying it was fake. That’s just the kind of world we live in. But that’s exactly why I did it.”

During the chat, Twinkle Khanna also shared that Saif’s mother, veteran actor Sharmila Tagore, had advised him to use a wheelchair. “I told him to go in a wheelchair – why doesn’t he ever listen to me?” Sharmila had reportedly told Twinkle.

Despite the ongoing debate, Saif remains unbothered. His decision, he insists, came from a place of calm – not defiance. “It wasn’t about drama,” he seemed to suggest, “just about showing strength when it mattered most.”
