New Delhi: The suspense around Rishabh Pant’s batting continued on Day 5 of the fourth Test match after he arrived at Old Trafford on crutches. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter reached at the stadium just one hour before the play resumed on the final day of the Manchester Test.
The Indian batting coach Sitanshu Kotak confirmed at the end of day 4 that Pant would come out to bat on the last day as the Men in Blue look to draw the match. However, his arrival at Old Trafford raised a lot of questions and fans need to wait to see whether he comes out to bat if the situation arises.
He entered the stadium wearing a moon boot to watch his teammates fight it out as they look to draw the match after the poor batting performance in the first innings. The Indian vice-captain tried to play a reverse sweep against Chris Woakes, but the ball took an inside edge of the bat and hit his foot. Pant was batting on an unbeaten 37 and was replaced at the crease by Ravindra Jadeja.
Rishabh Pant is ready to bat if the team needs him, even though he is in so much pain.

He couldn’t even stand after the blow and called for the physio for treatment. There was a big swelling and some blood on his right foot. However, as the treatment needed more time, the umpires asked the team management to carry him off the field.
He then went for scans at the hospital, and the reports revealed a fractured toe. Pant resumed his innings on Day 2 and scored a half-century before being removed by Jofra Archer.
