Mumbai, October 19: Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has weighed in on the recent firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff, suggesting the attack might stem from motives of ‘vanity and pride’ rather than typical criminal intent.
Varma described the event as an unprecedented phenomenon, noting a shift from traditional motives like extortion or contract killings.
The incident, which occurred on October 19 near a football club in Juhu, Mumbai, saw Tiger Shroff escape unhurt, though his driver and an autorickshaw driver sustained injuries. Reports indicate that three suspects were later apprehended in Kota, Rajasthan, in connection with the case.
The attack has prompted concerns within the film fraternity regarding safety. Actress Urvashi Rautela expressed deep disturbance and urged swift action from authorities. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit condemned the attack, emphasizing the industry’s solidarity with the Shroff family. He also highlighted a growing sense of insecurity within the industry, referencing a previous incident at Rohit Shetty’s residence. The industry is grappling with the implications of such brazen acts of violence.
