Local Products Uttar Pradesh: Swadeshi Mela 2025 is going to be organized in Uttar Pradesh from October 9 to October 19. But is it just a fair or will it also bring huge economic opportunities for small entrepreneurs, handicraftsmen and artisans on Diwali? Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is promoting MSME, Khadi, handloom and handicraft products of the state through this initiative. As per the intention of the Union Finance Minister and the Head of the State, this fair will prove to be an important step towards realizing the vision of “Vocal for Local” and towards a self-reliant India – self-reliant Uttar Pradesh.
Is Swadeshi Mela a big platform for small artisans and entrepreneurs?
Inspired by the success of UP International Trade Show (UPITS), now a big platform is being provided to small entrepreneurs and artisans at the district level also. The 3rd edition of UPITS was attended by over 2200 stalls and over 500 international buyers. Keeping this success in mind, now Swadeshi fairs will be organized in areas with high footfall in 75 districts of the state. Tents and facilities will be provided in this fair so that small artisans coming from villages can easily bring their products and grow their business.
Will there be only sales in the fair or will there also be cultural programs?
Not only trade, but cultural performances and art workshops will also be organized in the fair. Local artists, ODOP handicraftsmen and artisans associated with Khadi Village Industries will get a chance to showcase their skills. In this way, this fair is becoming a symbol of Diwali shopping as well as cultural prosperity.
What will be the benefits of purchasing indigenous products on Diwali?
According to Minister Rakesh Sachan, the products purchased in the fair will not only provide economic benefits to the artisans and handicraftsmen of the villages but will also reduce their dependence on foreign products. This purchase before Diwali will have a positive impact in every village and will increase the prosperity of small entrepreneurs.
Will young entrepreneurs also get a chance?
Under CM Yuva Udyami Yojana, loans up to Rs 5 lakh are being provided to more than 95 thousand youth of the state for self-employment. In the fair they will get a chance to sell their products on a large scale. This step will prove helpful in local employment generation and small enterprise development.
Which districts will inaugurate the fair?
Ministers, MLAs and MPs will inaugurate the fair in all the districts of the state. For example, Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak in Lucknow, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi in Ayodhya, Baby Rani Maurya in Agra, Nand Gopal Gupta in Prayagraj will inaugurate the Nandi Mela. In this way, the fair will be successful with political and administrative support in the entire state.
Can this effort bring a change in the self-reliance of Uttar Pradesh?
Rakesh Sachan said that this fair will prove to be a milestone in the direction of developed India-developed Uttar Pradesh and self-reliant India-self-reliant Uttar Pradesh. More than 96 lakh MSME units will get an opportunity to showcase their products at the district level. This initiative will boost local industry, employment and economic prosperity.
