Mumbai, Maharashtra: The iconic St. Theresa college from the ‘Student of the Year’ franchise is set to return, but not with its usual glamorous musical narrative.
This time, the third installment, titled ‘Student Of The Year- After Dark,’ will be a web series, delving into a darker, more intense world. Shanaya Kapoor, daughter of actor Sanjay Kapoor, is slated to make her digital debut in this series, marking a significant step in her career.
The makers have already released a teaser, which starkly contrasts the previous films’ vibrant party scenes with the ominous discovery of a dead body. This shift suggests a more raw, layered, and unpredictable storyline, moving away from the lighthearted tone of its predecessors. Karan Johar, known for producing the original films, will also produce this web series, with Reema Maya at the helm as director.
Reema Maya, celebrated for her bold and realistic narratives, shared her vision for the project. She emphasized that this adaptation will be a stripped-down, thriller-competition web series, a significant departure from expectations. Maya expressed excitement about exploring the genre and utilizing the web series format to engage with contemporary youth issues. She also praised Shanaya Kapoor as a dedicated and hardworking actor. The series is scheduled to stream on Jio Hotstar from November 13, promising a fresh take on a familiar universe.
