Bareilly Encounter News: Iftekhar Ali alias Soldier, a dacoit with a bounty of Rs 1 lakh, was killed in an encounter between police and SOG team in Bareilly early Thursday. The SOG jawan was injured due to the bullet, while the accomplice of the accused is absconding. SSP Anurag Arya reached the spot and took charge of the situation.
Bareilly Police Encounter: A major action by police and SOG team took place in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh in the early hours of Thursday. Notorious dacoit Iftekhar Ali alias Soldier alias Shaitan, carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh, was killed in a police encounter. During the encounter, a SOG soldier was injured by a bullet. Police have started combing operation in the area in search of the absconding accomplice.

Iftekhar Ali has a long history in the crime world. According to police records, there were 19 serious criminal cases registered against him in seven districts. These include serious crimes like murder, robbery and robbery. In 2006, he committed robbery by killing the priest of Pachaumi temple in Faridpur area of Bareilly. In 2012, he escaped from police custody from Barabanki jail and remained underground for eight years. At that time, there was a reward of Rs 50 thousand on his head, which was increased to Rs 1 lakh. Iftekhar was a resident of Bari Chowk area of Kasganj, but during his absconding, he used to run a gang on the Ghaziabad and Uttarakhand border. According to police sources, he kept dodging the police by repeatedly changing names and addresses.

How did the encounter happen? Bullets echoed at 4:30 in the morning!
Police had traced Iftekhar’s location on the basis of intelligence input. Around 4:30 am on Thursday, the police signaled his motorcycle to stop near Bilwa bridge on Nainital Road. But instead of stopping, he started firing. In retaliatory firing, Iftekhar was killed on the spot. During this time, SOG head constable Rahul was also shot in the leg, who has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
What was found from the encounter site?
Police recovered a 32 bore pistol, two magazines, 17 live cartridges, Rs 28,000 in cash, a mobile phone and a motorcycle without a number plate from the spot. The forensic team collected evidence and sent the body for postmortem. SSP Anurag Arya himself reached the spot and monitored the entire operation.
Search for absconding accomplice intensified, panic among criminals
The police have kept the identity of Iftekhar’s absconding companion a secret for the time being, but according to sources, he is his old associate. Heavy police force has been deployed on Nainital Road and surrounding areas. SSP Anurag Arya said- “Those who open fire on the police will not be spared. The absconding accused will be caught soon.” After this encounter, there is panic among the criminals in Bareilly and surrounding districts. The ongoing ‘Operation Clean’ under the leadership of SSP Arya has so far killed many notorious criminals.
