Renowned filmmaker SS Rajamouli has extended his support to director Nitesh Tiwari and the team of the much-anticipated mythological drama Ramayana Part 1, ahead of its scheduled theatrical release on November 5.
The filmmaker behind the Baahubali franchise took to social media to appreciate the cast and crew for bringing the epic Indian tale to the big screen on a grand scale.
In his latest post, Rajamouli expressed excitement at seeing an Indian film being made on such an ambitious scale. He also congratulated the team for bringing the timeless characters to life with depth and authenticity.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Rajamouli wrote, “#Ramayana is a story every Indian storyteller grows up aspiring to tell. It’s a joy to see @niteshtiwari22 and @malhotra_namit bring it to the screen on such a grand scale. Each actor brings these timeless characters to life with depth. Looking forward to 5th November. Best wishes to the entire team.”
Rajamouli had previously shared his thoughts on cinematic adaptations of the Indian epics Ramayana and Mahabharata during an appearance on the Empire Film Podcast. He acknowledged that he had not been entirely satisfied with how these stories had been portrayed on screen.
“I was never fully satisfied with how these epics were presented on screen,” the RRR filmmaker said, while expressing his desire to explore the stories through his own distinctive filmmaking approach.
Co-written by Nitesh Tiwari and Shridhar Raghavan, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita. Yash, known for his role in the KGF franchise, will portray Ravana, while Sunny Deol will play Lord Hanuman and Ravi Dubey will appear as Lakshman.
The ensemble cast also includes Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari, Arun Govil as King Dashrath, Vivek Oberoi as Vidyutjihva, Kunal Kapoor as Lord Indra and Adinath Kothare as Bharat.
The film’s music is being composed by Oscar-winning musicians Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman, adding to the anticipation surrounding the ambitious adaptation of the Indian epic.
