Manchester Test: Ben Stokes becomes 4th England player to achieve huge feat with century against India

New Delhi: England captain Ben Stokes silenced his critics with a stunning hundred against India in the fourth Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy on Saturday, July 26. He completed his 14th Test hundred with a boundary against Mohammed Siraj.

He joined an elusive list of England players and became the fourth all-rounder from the country to smash a century and take a five-wicket haul in the same match. Tony Greig, Ian Botham and Gus Atkinson are the other three players who have achieved this milestone, and only Botham has achieved this milestone more than once (5).

Stokes picked up a five-wicket haul (5/72) during the first innings of the match, his first in seven years, and he followed it up with a century in the second innings.

Stokes got retired hurt during the innings on the third day after suffering from a hamstring pull. However, he returned to the match later in the day and carried England to a massive score in the first innings.
