New Delhi: The Asia Cup 2025, which has been in the controversy and debate over a long time is all set to be on the track with the competitive event scheduled for September. After the recent meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in Dhaka earlier in the week, all the speculations with respect to the event were laid to rest.
As per a report in Cricbuzz, it is being learnt that the schedule for the marquee event is set to be release soon but most probably in a phased manner. The report mentions that the schedule of the event will release in the next 24 to 48 hours starting from Saturday. Some of the schedule will release on Saturday while the rest will be out on Monday, mentions the report.
Asia Cup to be held in UAE
The Asia Cup is most likely to be held from September 10 to 28 but the exact dates would be known once the fixtures are out. Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the UAE are expected to host the event as India disagreed to travel to Pakistan due to the socio-political differences. The continental championship, which is hosted by the BCCI, has gathered a lot of attention in the recent past due to the involvement of India and Pakistan.
The annual general meeting of the ACC in Dhaka saw India, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan join virtually while Pakistan and other ACC member units were present in person. India had earlier requested the ACC to change the venue of the meeting due to the political situation in the country but the requested was not entertained. There will be eight teams in the event – India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, UAE and Oman and they all will play about 19 matches against each other.
