Taking a historic decision for the Goa game, the Goa Badminton Association (GBA) has announced a strategic collaboration with Padukone School of Badminton (PSB) established by India’s great badminton player Mr. Prakash Padukone. The announcement was made at a special press conference held at Panaji, which included media members, GBA Executive Committee officials and PSB representatives, including Technical Director of Padukone School of Badminton, Mr. T. Balan.

Welcoming the gathering, GBA President Manoj Patil described this collaboration as a decisive moment for badminton in Goa on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the association. Manoj Patil said, ‘In the last six decades, GBA has made badminton one of the most vibrant sports communities in the state since the simple beginning. Today, we are taking a decisive step, not only to organize tournaments, but also to create a permanent system that constantly prepares quality players, trained coaches and skilled officers. ‘ Patil said that cooperation with PSB was established on a common approach, identifying and nurturing talent from the ground level, establishing district academies and eventually making a state -level high performance center where Goa players could take training with best in India. He said that this initiative will take advantage of Goa’s world -class sports infrastructure and will be in accordance with Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant’s perspective to make Goa the center of excellence.

Addressing the media, Mr. Prakash Padukone appreciated the initiative and appreciated the professional and visionary approach of GBA. Prakash Padukone said, ‘It is an honor for us to collaboration with Goa Badminton Association. Through this collaboration, our goal is to start from the ground level to the specific levels, to build a complete ecosystem from schools and panchayats to districts and state. He outlined the PSB’s nationwide ground level presence with over 75 centers across India, and stated that PSB talent would bring its expertise in the recognition, coach education and program design. He said, ‘We will help in trending PT teachers and trainers in Goa, providing them certification, and will ensure that the right basic things are taught at every level. Our approach would be gradual but consistent, ensuring that children are introduced to the game quickly and they are given proper guidance for progress.

Responding to media questions, Padukone praised the infrastructure of Goa, called it one of the best in small states of India. He emphasized that now the main thing is to turn this infrastructure towards the development of the players. He said, ‘Goa has facilities and passion. Now it needs a structure. With the support of GBA, Goa Sports Authority and Government, I am confident that this model will not only create champions here but can become a blueprint for other states.
What did GBA President Manoj Patil say?
In his address, GBA President Manoj Patil reiterated the GBA’s long -term view. He said, ‘This cooperation is not only about training players, it is about creating badminton culture in every village and school in Goa. We will start a ‘shuttle time’ initiative to start badminton in schools, which will give every child a chance to experience the game. From there, we will identify talent, nurture them through district and state programs, and support them through structured routes. With technical guidance of PSB. We are confident that this model will make Goa one of the most vibrant badminton centers in India.
GBA Secretary Praveen Shenoy provided the operating roadmap for cooperation. Shenoy said, ‘A administrative structure will be set up with a project manager nominated by PSB to monitor the implementation. The PSB will design and distribute all technical and capacity-making programs, while GBA will manage access to infrastructure, tournament administration and CSR fund creation. He said, “As the players go ahead, we will start the district and state-level programs, advanced players training and coach Apasilling workshops. Technology including AI based performance analysis will also be integrated into advanced programs.”
