Global leaders have heartily congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming the longest serving elected Prime Minister in the history of India.
Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, through a letter, described this achievement as a symbol of India’s democratic maturity and the people’s continued faith in the Modi government.
According to Jagran Bureau, Dissanayake wrote – “On behalf of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka, hearty congratulations on becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in the history of the Republic of India. This achievement is a testament not only to the length of your tenure, but also the confidence reposed in your leadership time and again by the people of the world’s largest democracy.”
He further said that in such a large, diverse and dynamic democracy, securing mandate in consecutive elections is remarkable. This reflects not only the excellent capacity of governance but also its ability to bring concrete improvements in the lives of common people and maintain public trust even in the face of challenges. Dissanayake praised India’s economic and social transformation during the three terms of the Modi government.
He said crores of Indians have benefited from improvements in infrastructure, financial inclusion, digital connectivity, public services and economic opportunities. India has now joined the world’s major economies and has become an influential voice in regional and global affairs. He said that Modi’s vision inspires many countries including Sri Lanka.
According to Prater, Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape in a personal video message described Prime Minister Modi as “a role model and example of leadership”.
He said, “Taking more than 20 crore people out of poverty and bringing them back to normal life is a wonderful achievement.” He expressed his desire to further strengthen bilateral relations with India.
According to ANI, Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamala Prasad Bissessar also congratulated Modi, saying that under his leadership India has emerged as a major voice in global affairs.
He said that going from a humble beginning to leading a nation of 1.40 billion people is truly amazing. He praised India’s foreign policy, infrastructure and socio-economic development during Modi’s tenure.
Meanwhile, the External Affairs Ministry said that there has been an “extraordinary change” in India’s foreign policy under the leadership of PM Modi. India’s diplomatic outreach over the last 12 years has strengthened “Brand India” and the country’s position on the global stage.
