IPL franchise lured Pat Cummins, Travis Head with $10m offer to quit Australian cricket; report makes shocking revelation

Star Australian cricketer is currently amidst headlines as he remains doubtful for the upcoming first Test of the Ashes series, set to begin from November 21. While this comes at a time where the Australian side struggle to get Cummins fit in time for the highly-anticipated series.

Although, not only this, Cummins also remains doubtful for the entire series as he is yet to resume bowling in the nets.

While this stands in one place, on Wednesday, October 8, a shocking revelation came to the front, claiming that the Aussie captain and star hitter Travis Head were handed lucrative deal by an Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise. However, the name of the franchise hasn’t been disclosed, but the duo have reportedly turned down the offer in order to continue playing for their national side.

According to The Age, the Aussie duo was informally approached by an IPL franchise with an offer of USD 10 million (INR 58 Crore) to represent them in various T20 leagues around the world and announce retirement from international cricket. However, the senior duo rejected the offer as they remained committed to playing international cricket.

Notably, the revelation came during the discussions between Cricket Australia and other stakeholders about privatising the Big Bash League. Although, the senior Aussie duo Pat Cummins and Travis Head are part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), but it is not confirmed if it was SRH or any other franchise that made the deal.

 

 

Having retained by the Orange Army in IPL 2025, Pat Cummins received INR 18 Crore deal ahead of the mega auctions. However, it saw a drop from his previous sum, which saw the franchise sign him for INR 20.5 Crore. On the other hand, Travis Head, who was also retained, saw his stocks rising as he doubled his salary to INR 14 Crore after being earlier roped in for INR 6.8 Crore.
