New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi on Friday spoke at the Bhagidari Nyay Mahasammelan organised by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) OBC (Other Backward Classes ) cell at Talkatora Stadium. Addressing the OBC party workers, he acknowledged that it was their “mistake” that the party could not conduct a caste census earlier. He said that he is correcting it now.
Rahul added that in his political career of 21 years, he committed a mistake of not protecting the interests of the people of the Other Backward Classes as much as he should.
Gandhi said that the caste census in Telangana is a “political earthquake” that will lead to a major “aftershock” in the country. Reflecting on his career, Rahul highlighted that there are two to three big issues where he felt he fell short. These include the land acquisition bill, MGNREGA, the food bill and the fight for tribal rights.
