Navi Mumbai International Airport: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first phase of Navi Mumbai International Airport on Wednesday. PM Modi will start his 2-day Mumbai tour at 3 pm and his plane will land directly at the airport.
Navi Mumbai International Airport: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to give a big gift to Mumbai on Wednesday. He will inaugurate Phase 1 of Navi Mumbai International Airport and Phase 2B of Mumbai Metro Line-3. Both these projects are considered important in making travel in the city easier and faster. PM Modi will also launch a mobile app named Mumbai One on this occasion. This app will help in connecting 11 public transport services like Metro, Monorail, local trains and buses on a single platform, making travel in Mumbai more convenient.
PM Modi’s plane will land at Navi Mumbai airport
A terminal and a runway have been prepared in the first phase of Navi Mumbai Airport. Its capacity is 2 crore passengers annually. This will be Mumbai’s second international airport and will be named after farmer leader D.B. Patil. PM Modi’s plane will land at Navi Mumbai Airport itself and he will inaugurate the first phase of the airport at 3:30 pm. Along with this, he will also inaugurate Phase 2B of Mumbai Metro Line-3 and the city’s first completely underground metro line. Regular flights are likely to start from Navi Mumbai Airport from December, which will further ease the traffic and travel for the city and surrounding areas.

Terminal made in lotus design
Navi Mumbai International Airport has a total area of 1,160 hectares. There is a plan to build a total of four terminals at this airport, in which Terminal 1 is ready in the first phase. The airport has a capacity to handle 2 crore passengers every year and has a cargo handling capacity of 0.8 million metric tonnes per annum. The terminal has been designed by renowned architects Hadid and is inspired by the lotus flower. The terminal has 12 beautiful columns, which look like blooming petals. The 17 large columns supporting the roof are designed in such a way that they can easily withstand earthquakes, wind pressure and heavy loads.
