Something similar was seen in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur on Monday, when Housing and Environment Minister OP Choudhary interacted directly with representatives of various residential colonies and housing societies.

Many important issues ranging from everyday problems of colonies to incomplete real estate projects, implementation of RERA law and urban amenities were discussed in detail in the meeting. The special thing was that many representatives described it as the first initiative of its kind in the history of the state.

Government’s focus on the problems of colonies

Representatives of many major housing societies of Raipur and surrounding areas participated in the review meeting held at Mahanadi Bhawan. The representatives presented issues related to roads, drainage, public facilities, infrastructure development and pending projects before the Minister. OP Choudhary, listening seriously to all the suggestions and complaints, directed the concerned officials to conduct necessary tests and prepare practical and legal solutions.

He said that the state government is committed to developing better urban infrastructure and civic amenities and the problems of people living in residential colonies will be resolved on priority basis.

Now stakeholder meetings will be regular

The minister also gave an important instruction during the meeting. He asked to organize regular stakeholder meetings from time to time with the housing department, urban bodies, RERA, builder organizations and resident welfare organizations. The government believes that if there is continuous communication between all parties, then problems can be solved faster and more effectively.

Issues related to RERA, builders and homebuyers also discussed

Many important suggestions related to the real estate sector came forward in the meeting. The representatives expressed their views on issues like effective implementation of RERA Act, transfer of pending projects, institutional reforms and giving more powers to housing societies. Experts believe that if effective action is taken on these suggestions, it may be possible to solve many long standing problems among home buyers and builders.

Suggestion of digital platform like “Awas Mitan”

Digital solutions were also discussed in the meeting. The representatives suggested developing a digital platform named “Awas Mitan” where the process of monitoring and resolution of issues related to colonies and residential societies can be made more transparent. Apart from this, proposals like formation of advisory committee and expansion of voting facilities in large residential complexes also came forward.

Why is this meeting considered special?

Representatives of many resident organizations present in the meeting said that perhaps for the first time, a Housing and Environment Minister has directly interacted with the representatives of housing societies and colonies at this level. He said that this initiative can become a model not only for Chhattisgarh but also for other states of the country.

The meeting included Parthiv Pacific, Kuber Society, City of Dreams, Anandam World City, Palm Bellagio, Sai Vatika, Avinash Suncity, Maruti Lifestyle, Avinash Signature Homes, Ralas Enclave, Crest Greens, Singapore City, Sapphire Greens, Las Vistas, Jainam Heights, Parthiv Province, Barsana Enclave, Galaxy Island, Srishti Palazzo and Crosswinds. Representatives of many major residential projects were present. Apart from this, senior officials of various departments including Town and Country Investment Commissioner Avnish Sharan also attended the meeting.
