Realme may launch a gaming flagship in India soon: Cooling fan to OnePlus 16R-like specs, 5 things we know

Chinese smartphone maker Realme has remained silent on an announcement concerning a flagship smartphone release in India this year. While the company currently sells its premium GT series devices in India (such as the GT 8 Pro and GT 7), a 2026 flagship remains a mystery.

However, this might change soon. According to a recent leak, Realme could launch a smartphone offering specifications similar to the OnePlus 16R. The phone is claimed to be a “flagship” device.

According to X (formerly Twitter) tech tipster Debayan Roy (@Gadgetsdata), the smartphone could debut under the Realme branding or arrive as the OnePlus 16R. Plus, the tipster also revealed a few specifications of the device.

Upcoming Realme flagship phone specifications (expectations)

Design: The phone is expected to offer a glass back and a metallic frame. Roy tips it could get an in-built cooling fan and an RGB circular light on the rear, possibly hinting at the phone’s gaming appeal.

Display: The upcoming smartphone may offer a 1.5K flat AMOLED screen with up to 185Hz refresh rate in supported games and up to 165Hz system-wide refresh rate.

Processor: Realme’s possible flagship is tipped to sport a Snapdragon 8 series chipset. It may support up to 120 FPS gameplay in Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) and 165Hz in Call of Duty: Mobile.

Battery: It is expected to sport an 8,700mAh (typical capacity) cell, which Realme may advertise as 9,000mAh. However, charging speeds are not known yet.

Cameras: The camera module could look similar to the Realme 16 Pro Plus 5G (image in the X post). The tipster claimed the phone could offer a 200MP primary and a 50MP 3.5x telephoto rear camera. It is tipped to miss out on an ultrawide lens. While the megapixels remain unknown at the time of writing, the selfie camera may support up to 4K 60FPS video recording.

The tipster has not revealed details about pricing or launch timeline. However, if it lands in the territory of the OnePlus 16R, it may arrive in the sub-Rs 70,000-80,000 price range. Meanwhile, Realme remains silent on the release and these details should be taken with a pinch of salt. For context, the company’s last flagship launch in India was the Realme GT 8 Pro. Its competitors, Xiaomi, Oppo, iQOO and Motorola, have already announced that the Xiaomi 18 Pro, Oppo Find X10 series, iQOO 16 and the Motorola Signature 27 will launch in India soon.
