Actor Paras Kalnawat, known for his role in the popular television show ‘Anupamaa’, is set to return to the small screen with the upcoming supernatural saga ‘Apsara’, co-starring Samiksha Jaiswal and Anushka Merchande.
The actor revealed that he had taken a break from television to explore opportunities in the web space but eventually realised how much he missed working on TV shows.
Speaking about his return to Star Plus, Kalnawat said the channel held a special place in his career, as ‘Anupamaa’ had given him a significant breakthrough.
“Returning to Star Plus after almost three to four years feels like coming back home. ‘Anupamaa’ gave me a big break and was a turning point in my career, so this channel will always be special to me,” he said.
Kalnawat added that his time away from television helped him recognise his attachment to the medium. Around the same time, he received the offer for ‘Apsara’, which gave him an opportunity to return to a format that had played a major role in his professional journey.
The actor will also sport a different appearance in the new show. He said he had lost around 15–18 kg over the past year and a half while working towards a leaner, more muscular physique.
“I’m trying a slightly rugged appearance on screen for the first time,” Kalnawat said, adding that ‘Apsara’ would be the first project in which audiences would see him in this look.
Produced by Mukta Dhond, the series draws inspiration from the mythological episode of Samudra Manthan. Its storyline revolves around the responsibility of protecting Amrit from evil forces while also safeguarding loved ones.
Kalnawat said he was particularly happy to collaborate with Dhond, revealing that he had wanted to work with the producer for a long time. He also praised his experience of working with co-stars Samiksha Jaiswal and Anushka Merchande.
‘Apsara’ is scheduled to premiere on October 21 on Star Plus and JioHotstar.
