Dehradun: A shocking incident came to light from Banjarawala, a locality in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. A video surfaced on social media showing primary school children carrying sand and gravel on the school premises.
The children, all in school uniform, were seen using buckets and shovels to move construction material.
Such is the state of government schools in Uttarakhand.

Chief Education Officer ordered an immediate investigation
The video quickly went viral and sparked anger among local residents and concerned citizens. Many expressed that making children do such labor is completely wrong and goes against their right to education and protection. Taking the matter seriously, the Chief Education Officer ordered an immediate investigation. The Deputy Education Officer of the Raipur area was sent to the school to inquire into the incident.
Principal was immediately suspended
During the inspection, it was confirmed that the school principal had instructed the children to carry the sand and gravel. Based on the findings, authorities decided to take strict action. The principal was immediately suspended and transferred to the Deputy Education Office in Raipur for further proceedings. Statements were also collected from other teachers. Officials mentioned that if any other staff members are found involved, they too will face disciplinary action.

Schools are not meant to use kids as physical labour
